
Sonic Superstars' most obvious change is its visual style. Shacknews recently had the opportunity to try Sonic Superstars out for the first time.

Sega's similar leap forward so far feels just as satisfying. For me, it felt similar to the jump that Nintendo made with Mario back in 2006 with New Super Mario Bros. However, there was a shiny new visual coat of paint and some new ideas made possible by over 30 years of modern gaming advances. This was Sonic the Hedgehog the way everybody remembered it. It was the intro, the colorful worlds, the classic enemies, and the loop-de-loops and bumpers. These dimensions will not only change the level layout but also grant players unique abilities.There was so much about Sonic Superstars that felt familiar. There’s also a range of new gameplay features such as the ability to enter what seems like alternate dimensions called Wonders built into each stage. This includes intense level design aimed to challenge even the most adept players. Super Mario Bros Wonder aims to bring back all the exciting co-op gameplay we love from the series.

However, some may debate it wasn’t a mainline entry given its level-maker system. The last was Super Mario Maker 2 back in 2019. It has been a while since we had a new 2D Mario title.
